About the Forum

The Global Forum on Platform Accountability (GFPA) is a coalition of independent research organisations, civil society groups, and academic institutions dedicated to improving transparency, accountability, and governance standards across major social media platforms.

Founded in 2021, the Forum now includes 34 member organisations across 19 countries, with representation from Europe, North America, Asia-Pacific, and Sub-Saharan Africa.

Why We Joined

Bulligence has always believed that platform accountability is a collective endeavour. The problems we investigate — opaque algorithms, covert data practices, regulatory non-compliance — are not unique to any one platform or jurisdiction. Addressing them requires coordinated, internationally recognised research standards and a unified voice when engaging with regulators and policymakers.

Membership in the GFPA gives us access to a shared evidence repository, joint research methodologies, and collective standing in regulatory consultations including EU DSA proceedings, UK Online Safety Act implementation, and US Congressional testimony.

What Changes

Our editorial independence and research methodology remain entirely our own. GFPA membership is a collaborative framework, not a governance structure. All Bulligence reports will continue to reflect only our own findings and conclusions.

We look forward to contributing to — and learning from — the wider accountability research community.
